Visit to Wind Turbines Derrybrien
Last Thursday the Middle Classes had a wonderful outing to Derrybrien Wind Farm managed by the ESB. Eamonn Hansberry drove the bus to the windfarm where we were warmly welcomed by 3 enthusiastic members of staff.
First of all each of us put on a high vis vest and a hard hat for safety reasons. We stood right beside a wind turbine which was 75m tall. There are 70 turbines and each one supplies 650 homes with energy for one year.
We also went inside one of the turbines. There was a very long ladder which is used for going to the top for maintenance.

Some Christmas Art
Ms Nolan's Classes have been busy creating wonderful pieces of art for Christmas. On Wednesday they made truffles, peppermint creams and marzipan snowmen and presents.
They also created a variety of pieces from recycled materials. They used last year's Christmas cards and old wrapping paper.
Several groups also did projects on Christmas in Ireland long ago, How Christmas is Celebrated in other countries and Christmas Food.
The following are some samples of their work

Firefighters' Visit to Peterswell
Yesterday our class was very lucky to have been chosen for a visit from Gort Fire Brigade. Two fire-fighters John Curley and Noel Glynn gave a very interesting and informative presentation to our class. We learned about fire safety in our home and steps to take to keep our homes fire-free. Each student was given a cool pack of activities to take home. It is now our job to train our families in fire safety skills. When we have completed all the activities we are going to get a certificate.

Friendship Fortnight in Ms Nolan's Room
Our classes love Friendship Fortnight,. It is an opportunity to show how much we all care for each other in this school. Friendship is important. Friends are important.
We are learning about how to keep our friends, how to watch out for each other, how to include others, how to share a smile and make someone happy.
We are learning songs about friends, carrying out random acts of kindness and creating wonderful art. Lucky us!
